Boston Red Sox infielder Justin Turner was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation after being hit in the face by a pitch during Monday's spring training game against the Detroit Tigers.
Turner was struck by a fastball from Tigers pitcher Rony Garcia in the second inning of the game. He immediately collapsed to the ground and was attended to by medical personnel.
Turner was taken to the hospital for further evaluation, where he received 16 stitches for a laceration on his face. He is currently listed in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
