French Climber Qualifies for Paris Olympics

French climber Sam Avezou has won the Men's Boulder Lead at the OQS Budapest, securing his place in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Avezou, the son of renowned climber Cécile Avezou and brother of fellow climber Léo, has been a rising star in the sport.

In the finals, Avezou faced stiff competition from fellow Frenchmen Mejdi Schalck and Manuel Cornu. However, Avezou's consistency and technical prowess proved too much for his rivals. He topped four of the five boulders, including the difficult final problem, to finish with a total score of 492 points.

Schalck, who had led the competition after the semifinals, was heartbroken to finish just one point behind Avezou. However, he also secured his qualification for the Olympics, finishing second with a score of 491. Cornu finished third with a score of 474 points.

Avezou's victory marks a significant milestone in his career and is a testament to his hard work and dedication. He will now turn his attention to preparing for the Paris Olympics, where he will be one of the favorites to win a medal.
